Montclair's Jose Alcala Honored for Teaching at NJIT

Jose Alcala, of Montclair, a university lecturer in the NJIT College of Architecture and Design, has been selected to receive the “Excellence in Instruction from a University Lecturer Award” at NJIT's University Convocation, an annual celebration to be held Sept. 14, 2011.

Architecture and Design Students Attend Autodesk Bootcamp

For the third consecutive year, students from the College of Architecture and Design received invitations and scholarships to participate in the Autodesk Bootcamp held in San Francisco, California.

Assistant Professor of Industrial Design Brooks Atwood in collaboration with Virginia Harper Design designed and produced a series of custom D'cay and Cor'cay furniture for an exhibition on May 28-June 30 at the Rouge 58 Gallery in Brooklyn, NY.

Third-year industrial design students Sara Jane Rin of Jersey City and Avrami Rakovsky of Elizabeth participated in a three-day workshop during NYC Design Week in which they designed a bench with Brooks Atwood, assistant professor in NJIT's School of Art + Design, and designer Marc Thorpe.

Industrial design student Kristen Ciandella of South Plainfield was awarded the top prize of $1,500 for her “Wave Collection” in a table-top design competition sponsored by Cambridge Silversmiths, Ltd. of Fairfield, NJ for the second-year industrial design studio in NJIT's School of Art + Design.
